Consent exempt work

There are methods of improving slope stability that do not require building consent, these are generally 'erosion protection' and controlling water. They work to significantly reduce the chance of a landslide.

These methods avoid a notice being placed on the property title during the building consent process and are cheaper than fully structural solutions.

If there has not yet been evidence of instability, then a structural solution may not be required. In that case, cost effective methods of reducing the main risk factors may be a logical choice.
